Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - First Attempt At Silver Fray!

Time flies! Just completed the 123rd brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Moving to Silver Fray

I have always been playing Bronze level frays, but there's where my cards are at. However, someone actually took my fray this time and in the spirit of teamwork (and a little helplessness), I decided to join Fray 9, which was a Silver level fray. I was expecting my Level 1 and Level 2 summoners to be in for a thrashing but things turned out totally opposite from what I expected.

Had 5 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 2nd!!

So for the final result, we were 2nd out of 9 guilds and got 700 Merits and around 16 SPS! That's an incredible amount of SPS!!!

Individually, I had 5 fights this time and I managed to win 4 of them this time! Finished a 5th within the guild!

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Captain Katie

Two very contrasting lineups for this battle, but when looked closely, my opponent made quite a few errors in the card selections. Firstly, the battle is Reverse Speed but Water cards generally have high speeds (even more thanks to Kelya Frendul) and it was bad choice to pick them. Secondly, in a Scattershot and Blast battle, having a Taunt card is doubly important and my opponent was missing that. As a result, this team easily succumbed to all the Blast attacks while Iziar shielded the entire team from attacks. And of course, Iziar deserved the MVP for being such a splendid card to play.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Witch Of Warwick

What an unexpected 6-0 win in this battle! This was Silver fray so I was pleasantly surprised to see a full Level 1 lineup. Due to the disparity in levels, my damage output was much better but Astral Entity pulled a lot of strings behind the scenes and ensured the opposing hits kept missing. But this result was definitely a big wow.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Liza Fox

This was yet another impressive win! Both teams used Venari Marksrat to boost Gargoya Devil but once again, it was Astral Entity that made the difference here. Resurrecting Venari Marksrat again meant my Gargoya Devil (which was of a lower level) was boosted twice. The Death element does have quite a few heavy hitters for Ranged cards and they did enough to overcome this Level 3 Summoner Life lineup in a Ranged fight - isn't that impressive?

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Gorth and Chimney Wallstop

My record against Immortalis hasn't been good but my cards impressed me once again. The whole team was preoccupied on my Taunt card and Scavo Hireling did an excellent job with the Repair ability which wasted one hit from my opponent every round. While my heavy hitters did their job, Scavo Hireling played a very instrumental role and deserved this rare MVP!

Battle 5 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: None

This was the type of lineup that I actually expected to meet in Silver Fray battles and I had no regrets losing this battle. My opponent's lineup is probably worth a few thousands USD. Congrats to him.

So that sums up my 5 battles for this brawl! A 80% win rate, almost a perfect brawl!
