Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Gargoya Devil Triumphs Over Earthquakes

Time flies! Just completed the 116th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 6 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 2nd!!!

So for the final result, we were 2nd out of 9 guilds and got 808 Merits and around 16 SPS! That's an incredible amount of SPS!!!

Individually, I had 6 fights this time and I managed to only 3 of them this time! Finished 7th within the guild!

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Alva The Crusher and Isgald Vorst

There was no way I was going to win this when I saw the lineups. My opponent had Quora Towershead partnered with Goblin Psychic, plus all the Martyr cards planted around Quora Towershead. With all the Martyr boosts and Bloodlust, I was just easy meat. Grr, when is Splinterlands going to give me one copy of her!!!

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Captain Katie and Sola Ranjell

An interesting ruleset combination with only Magic cards yet with Magic Reflect in play. For such ruleset, cards with Void will have a strong advantage and since Water/Djinn Oshannus was out, I had to call upon Life/Iziar. It all went accordingly to expectations and Iziar was just strong for this ruleset!

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

What a huge sigh of relief!!! I was especially nervous when my Astral Entity-led lineup came face to face with a Obsidian-led Magic lineup. My opponent cleverly used two Martyr cards and it was increasingly nervy as I saw the opposing Regal Peryton went up to 4 Magic damage and 8 Speed. Fortunately, my cards had enough HP and Gargoya Devil's accuracy stood out this time! In the end, even a Regal Peryton with 8 speed was not going to stand in my way. Probably the first MVP for Gargoya Devil and well deserved!

Battle 4 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Isgald Vorst

My Water lineup are letting me down this time after the changes in the brawl frays, i.e. I couldn't use Sea Monster and Axemaster anymore. This time round, my cards just were good enough and I lacked the damage output to overcome my opponent. Maybe I need to reconsider switching to other elements going forward.

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Liza Fox

An excellent 6-0 win here! My team was in a strong position through the entire battle, maneuvering through the Rebirth and Earthquake ruleset. For big battles, Night Ghoul is a very useful card to use because it has Taunt and this means it will certainly receive the Resurrect from Astral Entity.

Battle 6 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Kotriphus Bayne

How many Earthquakes battle do I need to fight? This was the 4th one out of 6. A rookie mistake here as I forgot to field a Flying card to ensure that was something at the end. Also, I mistakenly fielded Corpse Fiend which absorbed the precious Resurrect from Astral Entity. Not my best one here.

So that sums up my 6 battles for this brawl! A 50% win rate, got to do better next round!
