Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - We Are Top Again!

Time flies! Just completed the 51st brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 7 battles this time and it was not an easy round. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 1st!!

So for the final result, we got 1st out of 10 guilds and got 754 Merits and around 12 SPS! That's 3 champions in 4 brawls!!!

Individually, I had 7 fights this time and my bad run ended! Finished 1st within the guild with 6 wins! WOOHOO!

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Cutter Brieze

This was a weird battle because I realise I didn't have any experience with Earthquake + Cripple. Anyway, the strategy was to spam Flying cards and I had no idea why my opponent went with Trapp Falloway (I decided not to). Regal Peryton deserved the MVP for this one, because if not for it, I would have some trouble dealing with the opposing Ever Hungry Skull.

MVP: Regal Peryton

Battle 2 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: None

Ouch! I am usually slightly more upset when I lose with Water lineups against evenly matched opposing lineups because I am very confident in my selection. This time round, I came up slightly short and the opposing team had enough damage output to overcome my self healing Sea Monster for this 13 mana battle.

MVP: None

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

Both teams went to anti Magic summoners and it was Axemaster that shone with his damage output. It was tight choice for MVP between Axemaster and the Legendary Djinn Oshannus who zeroised all the magic damage and my opponent was just stuck. Back to wins for Water lineups!

MVP: Djinn Oshannus

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

This battle lineup was carefully thought out. I decided to go with a Daria Dragonscale/Demented Shark lineup, giving a +2 Melee damage boost to all cards. I packed my backline with Sneak and Opportunity cards so that the opposing tank would be untouched, allowing my Gladius card to get Bloodlust. It worked perfectly and seeing it being executed was extremely satisfying.

MVP: Relenor Cleaver

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Liza Fox

I always get nervous when I am not able to play Water. I put out the best possible lineup and hoped for the best. Fortunately, the Ranged cards were pretty deadly with all their hits but the MVP was definitely my summoner. Would have been taken out by the opposing Ranged cards if not for my summoner.

MVP: Contessa L'ament

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Isgald Vorst

This was a battle where both teams competed for damage output, with self healing tanks. My Gladius card made the difference because my damage output got higher as the Bloodlusts came along later in the battle.

MVP: Isgald Vorst

Battle 7 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Gorth

My opponent went for damage output while I went defensive in this Poison battle, relying and hoping the Poison damage would do the work for me. My lineup had much higher HP and no surprises who deserved a MVP for a Poison battle!

MVP: Almo Cambio

So that sums up my 7 battles for this brawl! A proud 86% win rate, without any free wins! The takeaway is USE YOUR GLADIUS CARDS because they make a great difference!

Review Of Gladius Cards

Since I am able to use Gladius cards now, I thought I should review selected cards that helped me win in the brawls. Congratulations to Cutter Brieze for winning one of the battles! Of course, please let me know if you have any tips in using these cards too as I am keen to learn and improve too!

For a 1 mana card, it's really hard to expect much and reminds me of Naga Assassin. Because he has Bloodlust, he acts as a filler card whenever I have space for 1 mana. Putting Cutter Brieze at the last position seems to be the best way to play, to protect the backline from Sneak attacks and to have the most time to get the Bloodlust.
