Shauner's 48th Splinterlands Brawl Report - PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Guild
PIZZA 2 Guild Member Performance
I took third place this time with a record of 5-2. Congrats to @higherlow for a first place finish with 5 wins and 0 losses!
PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Results
We earned 15 crowns, 808 merits, and 16.012 SPS for finishing in 2nd place in this brawl.
Now that we are receiving SPS rewards for brawling, I've been keeping a closer eye on these prices lately. My last brawl report had SPS at about $0.0245 each and they are now down a bit to $0.023.
Because of the declining price, I've been unstaking my SPS rewards and converting it to HIVE. I imagine that's what most other people are doing, hence the steady decline in the price of SPS.
For this brawl, I rented 297 DEC worth of cards. That DEC is worth $0.16 and the 16 SPS we earned for this brawl is valued at $0.37. This means that brawling was profitable for me again! This is probably the most exciting part of playing Splinterlands for me now lol.
My 5-2 record was the result of going 4-2 in actual battles with one opponent fleeing.
Battle #2 - Win
This battle is against the team that took first place in the brawl. With Equalizer and Spreading Fury buffs, I had a couple of decisions to make. Specifically, whether I wanted to put up a high health card that would give my opponent high mana across their lineup as well. I chose not to do so and stick with lower health cards, which also tend to be lower mana and take advantage if my opponent chose a high health tank.
As it turns out, my opponent used one of my go-to cards, Quora Towershead. Instead of going with Quora myself, I chose a Gladiator with double strike, in the hopes of building up its Bloodlust stats quickly.
By round 5, I was left with only my Gladiator card. However, because I used a Llama summoner, this Gladiator got a huge stats boost and was hitting with 9 melee (18 since it has double-strike), 9 speed, and 18 health. At this level, it is virtually unstoppable... even against Quora.
This was a sweet win with some cards I don't usually use.
Battle #3 - Win
I don't usually use Palidon Rakk with Earth splinter, but the Odd-only card restriction eliminated my go-to Earth cards. I decided to use three fairly powerful cards paired with the Llama summoner to give an extra boost to whichever one is left standing at the end.
My hope is that by placing Mycelic Slipspawn where I did that it will give my Gladiator tank a bit of breathing room to allow him to get some Bloodlust boosts before he starts taking hits.
Unfortaunately, my gladiator tank kept getting blocked by speed and he never really got into a groove. The hero of this battle ended up being Sand Worm, especially once he became the last card remaining on my side and received the Llama boost.
Battle #7 - Win
In this battle, I was able to bust out my favorite Earth splinter lineup - Llama summoner with Kron and Quora monsters. I decided to place Quora in the rear position to give her a stats boost if she is the last one standing.
It turns out Quora never made it to the first position and she inflicted a kill each turn she took! This was a quick battle with my Kron and Quora inflicting big damage very quickly.
While I still lost two battles in this brawl, I beat the first place team. I find this to be a satisfying consolation prize since they are usually a fierce opponent.
This was a good brawl and we performed well as a guild too.
What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?
*Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Check out the latest update on the Hive Pizza token project. We also have an announcement in there about the newest PIZZA guild! We are up to four Splinterlands guilds now and are consistently well-ranking.
