Day 62/366 Y2024 : Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Finally a Rank Overhaul

Hello fellow Splinterand lover, Have you seen it ?? Our favorite game is getting back it's well deserved recognition like the old day.

This week Splinterlands announced a Rank Battle Overhaul that everyone was talking about. Some say it's a bad update, some say it's good . But to have a real say about this matter we have to experience it personally .

So before my thought here are contents on the announcement of the update.

Removing League Limits
First and foremost of the changes is that we will be completely removing all limitations around the different leagues for ranked battles. Going forward, with the exception of Novice league, a player's league will simply be a cosmetic, visual indicator of the rating range that they are currently in.

This will be accomplished with the following changes to Ranked battles:

There will no longer be leaderboards for any league except Champion
There will no longer be maximum level limits for cards nor will there be penalties for low level cards
Players will no longer be able to choose not to advance to a higher league (since leagues will just represent a rating range)
Matchmaking will no longer be limited by league and will seek to match players with the opponent closest to them in rating
The SPS reward pool for ranked battles will no longer be divided by league, and will instead be one single reward pool for Modern format and a separate, single reward pool for Wild format.

The removal of card limits favors me much personally , I have a lot of cards(soulbound cards ) that are always penalized due to it level being not in compliance with the league it's in. Now that they remove it we can now fully use our decks without worrying much on the levels. We all know there are a lot of cards that are strong even in it's low levels.
This is my favorite part in the update, all players will now auto advance in league if they reach the required rating for it. Personally ,I have a bad experience about this before the update because of people who are gate keeping. For years players are just sitting at the end of every league even their rating are already way to high for that league. Most players who do this are the one aiming for the leaderboard for a certain league, by them doing this players who wants to advance in the next league were forced to deal with this strong players and of course this discourages players specially new once to continue playing. So I think this is a very good update for new comers.
Also matchmaking will now be more fair since your opponent will now be the one close to your rating, now this is even better. Before this update people are matched even with a very high rating playing just sitting in that league and not wanting to advance.

Overall this update is a very good one, they were telling that they will make Splinterlands a top game of it's genre again. This is a very good start to do that for sure.

The Update Finally Arrived

One the first day of the update, many players who focused on the wild format now played in Modern, I myself is one of them. The update amazed me just in the first battle, I was able to used max level cards even in the bronze. now thats the update we all waited. No more level cap set by league, now we were able to utilize all cards full potential, we get to see our invested money in those cards, it doesn't matter on what league you play, you get what you paid for if you ask me.

I'm at silver league and I'm using my max level Sloan summoner and also units at max level, money well spent on those cards, I can now use take advantage of their full level in any league.

Also like I said , many players are now playing in modern and starting to rank up we have a mix of full stacked players and those with a semi complete deck. Now with this happening I was able to see that my current deck is still competitive even though I only Have Chaos, Reward Cards and Gladius in my arsenal. This update sure did challenge me to test my skill and find out until what rating will my deck be still competitive.

A win streak on my way to the top, a lot of strong players are still out here in the lower to mid leagues. The season is still young so I guess in the coming days we get to see more exciting battle. This is a good test of my current deck and I think it's safe to say there still a lot of fuel left for me to reach the gold leagues.

So far this are my experiences about the new update. It's a great great update if you ask me. This game will surely attract a lot of old and new players in to the game. Good job to the team for making a constant effort to make the game better.
