Psychology of the new Splinterlands rewards system, more choice than before, less rewards? Do you burn all your unneeded Soulbound cards?

Was denkt ihr?

Choose your rewards, pay with GLINT

Splinterlands Reward Shop

English

The new reward system in Splinterlands was launched yesterday. You now receive GLINT tokens for each Ranked Battle, which you can then exchange for Soulbound Draws, Merits, Potions or Land Titles in the new Reward Shop.

And at the end of the season there is a GLINT bonus (in Diamond 3 Wild around 80-100K) depending on how far you have come in the season.

Overall, this gives you more choice than before as to which rewards you get. SPS is no longer available against GLINT, but you get SPS directly for the Ranked Battles, but you no longer have the chance to loot a chest with thousands of SPS.

Overall, the first impression is that the rewards have shrunk significantly, but is that just my imagination?

A Ranked Battle in Wild Diamond 3 brings about 240 GLINT without bonus and with 10x boost, but an Elite Draw (which corresponds to a Diamond Soulbound chest) costs 2500 GLINT, with the price doubling every 10 draws. Exponential costs.

On the other hand, not all chests used to be filled with cards, but I think only 20%-35% depending on the League. You have to take that into account too.

So it feels like you get less chests with cards now, but I think you have to wait a season to see how the system works in practice.

The burn factor for soulbound cards was also halved at the last minute, from 10x to 5x.

Will you burn all the soulbound cards you no longer need or does it make sense to keep them as they might become worth something one day or is that rather unlikely?

Rumor has it that you will have to spend DEC to unlock Soulbound and it will be so expensive that it won't be worth it.

What do you think? Are you burning all the SB cards you no longer need? How do you like the new reward system? Is it all just psychology, Paradox of Choice, or have the rewards really shrunk?

I think it's used for Land owners only to get a reward / production bonus.

You have to give the new system a little time to see if tokemania improves.

Whatever anyone says, I really like the update. The rewards have been bad for me for a few years now, all the way since the crypto crash, so I'm just excited to see some new stuff.

I usually prefer waiting a bit before passing judgment but in this case, I think it's clear rewards go nerfed. Time will tell by how much. We can get way fewer chests than before. Yes, the chests didn't always contain cards but they could contain SPS or merits too, which could be even more valuable, depending on the amount. The nice part is never having to see a single potion ever again. I don't think the cost increase reflects just the % that went to potions. Sure, the SPS that was gained in chests went to the battle rewards, but it still doesn't seem to match.

It's nice to be able to choose which chests you get or maybe you can focus on merits if that's what you need. But I also expected more choices. I have all commons maxed and most rares too. I don't have most epics or legendaries maxed out. I don't want to spend the whole day fighting for some Glint that allows me to buy 1 or 2 chests and get some commons, which is what's most likely to happen with those percentages. This is the later part of these reward cards, we should be able to have a better shot and getting exactly what we need.

Let's not forget the removal of the focus. That's another dent in the rewards. They should have given at least a 1,1x multiplier to SPS and Glint rewards to account for that.

Overall, less rewards, and less excitement because you'll get to oopen fewer chests. The upside is not seeing a single potion ever again and being able to use useless extra copies for something.

Good points, it feels a bit like focus rewards are gone, but accumulating GLINT could make up for the EOS rewards. Think it would be better to allow buying specific cards directly with GLINT or at least epic or legendary for GLINT.

The Glint system is surely going to be a good one
Let’s see how it goes

I don't like it.... I think the rewards have just shrunk too much and now the possibility of having to burn DEC to unlock soul bounds. I'm very disappointed.

Happy month of April,
How were your season rewards after the season finale?
The potential of Glint is interesting. Title and Soul Bound Cards are my target.

Got more chests than usual but the last season already removed the SPS rewards from the chests.

People won't want to do that at all because they work hard to earn things in-game so they won't do it this way. They have been waiting for a long time to get their profits.

My luck has been very bad, never got a golden legend card, change to the new system, I don't know if it will get worse

I don't know what to make but I think reducing the number of cards doesn't really help much. Modern Silver league doesn't give much glint at all so I don't even know if it's worth it. I might have to try moving up in Wild because modern is too tough.
