💥 Special Guests 💥

Aly - Blockchain Founders Fund/Board Member

  • Head of the foundation that is associated with the DAO
  • Helped get SPS into the world
  • Helps with listings
  • Instrumental to the business
  • Blockchain Founders Fund
    • works with over 100 portfolio blockchain companies and helps to get them listed
    • Splinterlands is the flagship company and has pioneered many things in the NFT space
  • SPS Governance Proposal - Allocate 20M SPS from DAO Treasury for Exchange Listings
  • Exchanges have non disclosure agreements so we can't ask for specific amounts of money
  • So we need a pre approved budget
  • Tokens only keep value if we can grow the community and ecosystem
  • Historically - Exchange fees move with the market
  • 3 types of Fees
    1. Listing Fee
    2. Marketing/Promotion Fee
    3. Deposit Fee
  • In discussion with top 10 exchanges being able to bring down the fees and do it all in SPS
  • Big exchange listings are critical for mainstream exposure
  • As the market goes up - these exchange listings will go up so it will be more expensive to do it later
  • The proposal is not just for one listing
  • The proposal is a pre approval
  • Once we have a strong listing then we would move forward and the funds would go directly to the exchange
  • Very critical to move forward now as a community especially because fees are low at this time
  • Money will be sent directly to exchanges
  • Stays in the DAO until it goes to the exchange

Jarvie from Peakmonsters

  • Started Peakmonsters in 2018
  • A place where people can save time and money by doing transactions: buy, rent, combine, lock cards
  • Launched a new feature called Decks
  • It's the biggest feature that will significantly help the game
  • Just launched Friday
  • You can now filter by decks
  • Explore decks created by the community
  • Users can now create decks
  • Now you can see what other players like to use
  • You can click on the deck and see what cards are in the deck
  • It will tell you if you own the card or not and will tell you if it's available to rent
  • It tells you the cost of buying the entire deck or renting the entire deck
  • The community aspect will tell you if the deck is good or not
  • 2 different types of decks
    1. Thematic decks
    2. Lineup Deck - regular battle deck
  • Helps new players to know which cards to buy or rent
  • How do you become a pro to put up decks that have a higher social weight?
    • If you are in the leaderboards or a content creator then contact Jarvie

💥 Company Updates 💥

Words from Wizards/Tuesday Release Update: InvestyGator

Better Filtering, Part One

The Card Market, Card Collection, and Brawl Ban Selection screens have had their filtering updated to use the new Set and Subset filters.

Gameplay Updates

Dispel and Life Leech will no longer trigger on blast damage, just the initial target.

‘Going the Distance’ and ‘Wands Out’ rulesets will no longer appear in Chaos Set only Brawls and Tournaments to avoid potential issues of not having any cards to chose from in certain ruleset combinations.

Scattershot changed to be able to target camouflaged Monsters (you can be as camouflaged as you want, but when they start shooting wildly you have as good a chance of getting hit as anyone else).

Fixed a bug with incorrect card levels being applied when doing team submission validation for Open (“Ghost Card”) Tournaments. This could lead to incorrectly surrendering when using creatures that did not have attacks at level 1 in ‘Going The Distance’, ‘Up Close And Personal’, or ‘Wands Out’ rules sets.

Added a Clear option for the Mana Cost selection during team creation.

Tech Modernization

The Licenses section of the token dashboard has been moved to the Tech Modernization client.

The Transfer screen for Voucher and License transfers has been moved to the Tech Modernization client.

When purchasing land deeds, if you do not have sufficient funds it will now warn you and not allow you to submit the transaction. DEC Pricing will also now show the cost in DEC.

System Notifications, on Tech Modernization pages, will now persist until clicked or the browser is refreshed.

Guild System messages, on Tech Modernization pages, have had a few display issues corrected.

General Updates

The Non-Card market will now respect purchase authority granted to other accounts.

Fixed a bug with incorrect Title choices being displayed on the dropdown options menu when editing Player Profiles.

Corrected the Get More menu option for Dark Energy Crystals on Items → Other Items to go to the Tech Modernization page.

An End of Chaos Legion sale leaderboard page has been added, which will be available off the Chaos Legion pack page once the last million packs are reached.

Usage of the term “Splinters” has been changed to “Elements” in various text locations, to go along with the Lore changes surrounding the use of these nomenclatures.

Corrected some incorrect naming in the Merdhampir & Djinn Muirat lore.

Updated lore for Skok Duskblight.

Continued changes to improve performance, notably larger changes to how cards and market listings and pulled.

Next week:

Season Rentals & Market Listing Fee

Cards may now be listed up for a Season rental duration or a Daily rental duration. Season rentals will last until the next end of season, where Daily rentals will work as before.

To reduce the high frequency of market repricing, we will be charging a 1 DEC or Credit fee for listing or updating the price of Market items.

Tech Modernization

The Open packs screen, known as the Mana Well, has been moved over to the Tech Modernization client.

Wow.. Seriously? This is absolute trash.

Can't wait to see all these 0.1 DEC/day cards become net losses if people want to rent them out. Thanks. smh

So are you giving upon 5% fees?

If this was only on users who list or update more than x times in 24 hours, I can understand. Charging 1 DEC from the start does not sound good. There must be at least a few free listings for regular users who don't put much of burden on the servers.

1 DEC as a fee for each rental listing ?
That seems a bit excessive no ?

I understand that the goal is to push forward the season rental feature and card leveling but it can only works when we have a large number of cards in the first place...

And how the card staking on Lands can be infinite?

That fee is crazy, if I rent my cards in 0.1 Deck I'll lose everything little bye little, I think that this is not the best option, especially for small players with few cards.

About the fee, imho, a better solution could be applying it only on listings that are updated more than x times a day (where "x" could be equal to 1).

If I list a card for the first time in a day, I shouldn't be charged with a fee.
Same if I update its price the day after.

On the other hand, if I want to update its price or re-list it multiple times per day, a fee could apply.

It would also be ok to have a free list/update per card every 2 days (similarly to the minimum rental time of cards).

Feels like a much better solution, giving everyone the opportunity to participate in the rental market.

This! Charging everyone seems wrong and smells like money grab tactics (although I'm not sure it would add up that quick

I don't think it's a money grab. Charging a nominal fee just makes it so it's not free, and thus doesn't get spammed. With that said, 1 DEC will definitely make some cards impossible to rent in the current environment.

1 DEC seems good to fight the rental bots, what's up with all the cute looking dragon summoners, dragons should be scary right? lol, I now byzantine likes cute and that's the reason. Thanks for the recap! I don't mind you're later, we're all busy ;)

In defense of the 1 DEC listing fee:

  • as mentioned, it will reduce network congestion and spamming
  • it creates another DEC sink, which in theory should make DEC more valuable
  • it would overall raise the cost of renting as everyone and every bot will need to raise the rental fees
-- if rental fees go up, more people will buy cards, which means the value of cards should go up (ceteras peribas)
--- this is only true if demand stays constant

However, won't the 1 DEC listing fee kill the market for low value cards? If the overall mechanism causes card prices to increase, it's going to make it more expensive to fill in the gaps for everyone's decks. Charging 0.1 DEC (or maybe even 0.01 DEC) may have the same effect of reducing rental spam without causing too much of a shock to the rental market for cards that don't command high rental fees.
