Flame Imp Macrame Wall Hanging / Splinterlands Art Contest Week 260

Saludos querida comunidad, les comparto con mucho entusiasmo un colgante de pared hecho en macramé para participar en el Splinterlands Art Contest 160, escogí la carta de Flame Imp, porque me gustó mucho la forma de este demonio el cual es una criatura de fuego que surge de las burbujas del lago hirviente de lava llamado Mittreya’s Hand, este personaje me parece muy lindo y me recuerda un poco a Hellboy cuando era niño. Espero les guste.


Greetings dear community, I share with you with great enthusiasm a wall hanging made of macramé to participate in the Splinterlands Art Contest 160, I chose the Flame Imp card, because I really liked the shape of this demon which is a creature of fire that emerges from the bubbles of the boiling lava lake called Mittreya's Hand, this character seems very cute to me and reminds me a little of Hellboy when he was a child in the movie. I hope you like it.

Proceso/ Process

Lo primero que hice fue recortar la imagen de manera rectangular, para determinar el área que de referencia para hacer mi patrón y sus respectivos colores. Para este trabajo usé hilo acrílico color morado claro para el fondo, la imagen de la carta tenía color rojo pero me pareció correcto usar un color distinto porque Flame Imp es rojo y quería un fondo contrastante. Usé hilo negro para el delineado de la figura, rojo para los tonos medios del cuerpo, vinotinto para el área de sombras y rosado claro para las luces, para los ojos usé naranja, amarillo oscuro y amarillo claro. En total usé 8 colores.

The first thing I did was cut out the image rectangularly, to determine the reference area to make my pattern and their respective colors. For this job I used light purple acrylic yarn for the background, the image on the card was red but it seemed right to use a different color because Flame Imp is red and I wanted a contrasting background. I used black thread to outline the figure, red for the middle tones of the body, burgundy for the shadow area and light pink for the highlights, for the eyes I used orange, dark yellow and light yellow. In total I used 8 colors.

Comencé con el hilo morado claro, corté 18 hebras de 50cm, tomé las hebras por la mitad y las uní al palito con un nudo llamado Alondra como se puede ver en la imagen, obteniendo 36 hilos guía. Luego con pinzas para ropa aseguré el palito a una tabla y ubiqué el ovillo de hilo a la izquierda para comenzar a hacer los nudos.

I started with the light purple thread, I cut 18 50cm strands, took the strands in half and joined them to the stick with a knot called Alondra as you can see in the image, obtaining 36 guide threads. Then with clothespins I secured the stick to a board and placed the ball of thread on the left to begin tying the knots.

Con el hilo morado claro hice una hilera de nudos, en los nudos simples el hilo anudador envuelve dos veces cada uno de los hilos guía de izquierda a derecha y luego en la siguiente hilera se trabaja de derecha a izquierda sucesivamente. Agregué el hilo negro en la segunda hilera de derecha a izquierda para comenzar a hacer la figura de las orejas, luego el rostro pasando por los ojos y el resto agregando los hilos por detrás continuando la forma.

With the light purple thread I made a row of knots, in the simple knots the knotting thread wraps each of the guide threads twice from left to right and then in the next row it is worked from right to left successively. I added the black thread in the second row from right to left to start making the figure of the ears, then the face passing through the eyes and the rest adding the threads from behind continuing the shape.

A pesar de que el personaje es de contextura delgada, tiene una buena musculatura por lo que usé el hilo rosado para acentuar las luces o brillos de los músculos, mientras que el hilo vinotinto le da sombra y un poco de volumen visual a la forma, dejando ver que la luz es cenital derecha.

Although the character has a thin build, he has good muscles, so I used the pink thread to accentuate the lights or shine of the muscles, while the burgundy thread gives shadow and a little visual volume to the shape, showing that the light is from the right overhead.

Terminé la figura en la hilera 91, luego separé los hilos guía en 4 partes, con una hebra amarilla hice un nudo en cada parte y corté de forma u informe las puntas de los flecos. Con el hilo morado claro corté 6 hebras de 20 cm y realicé una trenza que uní con nudos al palito para formar el colgante de pared.

I finished the figure in row 91, then I separated the guide threads into 4 parts, with a yellow thread I tied a knot in each part and cut the ends of the fringes in a shapeless shape. With the light purple thread I cut 6 strands of 20 cm and made a braid that I tied with knots to the stick to form the wall hanging.

Resultado / Result

Se que cada vez que termino un proyecto termino diciendo lo mismo, pero en serio este es mi colgante favorito hasta ahora, a pesar de que pueda parecer una figura menos complicada me tomó 5 días terminarla y estoy muy feliz con el resultado.

I know that every time I finish a project I end up saying the same thing, but seriously this is my favorite pendant so far, even though it may seem like a less complicated figure it took me 5 days to finish and I am very happy with the result.
