Greetings community users! Welcome to my first post of the year 2024 and what better way to start this year than sharing with you all my entry to the @splinterlands art contest for this week. Sean todos bienvenidos a mi primera publicación del año 2024 y que mejor manera manera de iniciar este año que compartiendo con todos ustedes mi participación al concurso de arte para esta semana de @splinterlands. Para esta ilustración he elegido como personaje de referencia a Nectar Queen, esta vez representándola en un estilo un poco diferente a lo que he venido mostrándoles anteriormente. ¡Espero les guste y gracias por pasar por aquí!

To make this bee I had to see some references, being of great help this image, with it I understood the anatomy of this small animal. Then I started to make the first ideas until I created a sketch quite similar to the original reference. With the sketch ready I proceeded to draw my lineart all over the character.

Para realizar esta abeja tuve que ver algunas referencias, siendo de gran ayuda esta imagen, con ella entendí la anatomía de este pequeño animal. Luego comencé a realizar las primeras ideas hasta crear un boceto bastante similar a la referencia original. Con el boceto listo procedí a trazar mi lineart por todo el personaje.

With the lineart ready I started working on the colours of the character. I built a palette with quite saturated colours and started to apply them on top of a grey base layer, then I was working on the shadows that the character would have with a low opacity brush, also trying to create some texture on the different parts of the character for a greater sense of volume.

Con el lineart listo empecé a trabajar en los colores del personaje. Arme una paleta con colores bastante saturados y comencé a aplicarlos encima de una capa base color gris, después fui trabajando en las sombras que tendría el personaje con un pincel de baja opacidad, también tratando de crear un poco de textura en las diferentes partes del personaje para mayor sensación de volumen.

I deepened these shadows a bit more and then started to apply some light on specific parts of the character, giving more detail in the eyes which would be the centre of attention of the illustration. Then I applied a texture on the wings of the character to make them look a bit more real and made a base gradient to work on a background.

Estas sombras las fui profundizando un poco mas para luego comenzar a aplicar un poco de luz en partes especificas del personaje, dando un mayor detalle en los ojos el cual seria el centro de atención de la ilustración. Después aplique una textura en las alas del personaje para q se vieran un poco mas reales y realice un degradado base para trabajar en un fondo.
