Curious About Web 3.0 Blogging in the Philippines and Why Hive/Peakd?

Web 3.0

Hello everyone!

I've been lurking around PeakD mainly because of the NFT game, #splinterlands , where some useful info is being posted about such as game updates, strategies and what not. My 'SPL' journey may be of a separate post in the future. As the title says, I'm really curious on how the Hive blockchain (including Peakd posting) is being utilized here in the #Philippines.

Upon discovering @hiveph from one of @teamph's (@mangomayhem) blog challenges, I was pleasantly surprised that there are actually Filipinos doing some blogs in this Hive (Peakd) platform. Blogging was a big thing in the late 2000s (if you guys were familiar with Blogspot, Multiply, etc) but eventually got replaced with short video formats (e.g. Vine, snapchat, tiktok, etc). Back then, blogs get monetized through ad clicks and page visits. Maybe it's more of a millenial thing, during this time, people were encouraged to go deep and express their thoughts and share creativity through the web via blog posts.

Anyway, back to my question, hopefully to Filipino "Hivers" out there, how did you discover Peakd and Hive blogging? Was this taught in school, encouraged in some religious sectors, gaming communities, hobbyist communities, etc?

I thought of making a survey out of this, but I guess since this is my first time to post, I would like to interact with others in the community more. Please do feel free to post in the comments section and share your journey. As I'm fairly new into Peakd blogging, I'd welcome any tips and tricks as well. Would be interested in exploring other people's post too!

Cheers!

Hello!
Nice to meet you! Happy to see many people starting to post something on their blogs. Gotta thank teamph for that. ☺️

I discovered about Hive from a friend. If not for her, maybe I would not know about Hive because I’m not really so invested in learning about Web3.0. I just wanted an avenue to share my stories through blogging. I have a blogspot account before, and Wordpress sites just to share my thoughts but they didn’t really have an audience unlike here on Hive. So I stayed here.

Others from HivePH community came from a different blog2earn platform (read.cash, noise.cash, etc) and when someone introduced Hive to them, they’ve started to join and stayed as well.

By the way, HivePH is also on discord. This is where we usually talk and interact with members of the community. Of course we interact here on the platform too but for anything else, we’re just hanging out there, helping others with their questions and just for the classic bardagulan. Hope you can join us!

Thank you for taking the time to reach out, I am proud to see more and more Filipinos are beginning to use this platform, I started playing Splinterlands in August 2021 and 1 of my Guild Mates at the time had mentioned it to me. I first used Peakd to blog about our 1st Splinterlands Live Event that took place in my Restobar in Calbayog, and continued from there. I love to write, it is a way of expression. I have been more active with the growth of TeamPH. We have a small group within our discord, please feel free to drop into voice chat, we are taking curation to another level. There are really helpful people in this environment. Its all about Sharing of Blessings!

how did you discover Peakd and Hive blogging?

Was also invited by a friend way back in 2021 and have stayed since then. And the adventure and opportunities here on Hive has just been amazing. Currently work as a curator for @lovesniper and @ocd.

Seeing that blogging has raised your interest, I encourage you to start with an introduction blog! There are a lot of sample blogs from the HivePH community you can check on. Making an intro blog just helps the others get to know you and support your work.

To help you on your journey here, you can also read How To Get A Great Start on the Hive Blockchain.

Some things to remember here on Hive:

  1. Make sure to share your future blogs in the appropriate Communities.
  2. If you are looking for tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here.
  3. Plagiarism and any form of abuse is considered a serious offense.

We wish you all the best in your Hive journey! Feel free to tag @lovesniper @indayclara once you have made your introduction blog! See you around.

I started blogging on Blogspot back in 2009 then I have a self-hosted WordPress blog in 2013 at https://www.itravelrox.com. I started blogging on Hive just this year in February 2023. Blogging is not dead if you're still using WordPress. Although the Multiply platform is now dead. Tiktok, Vines, and Youtube are other forms of content-creating platforms in terms of video, so this is why VLOGGING was introduced.

Hi @itravelrox!

Yes, I used blogspot as well then Multiply. It's really unfortunate that Multiply folded and did not maintain its servers. I've lost a lot of content there. :(

After Multiply, FB has already been my domain but mainly for sharing pics. I tend to put in captions in pics but no longer blog (maybe just provide a lengthy description in my photo albums). It's really been years since I've last blogged, and through Hive, I feel like blogging again. :)

Vlogging, I don't think so, I'm shy. hahaha

I never used multiply because it felt so redundant that I had blogspot. better I sticked to one then upgraded myself to WordPress to learn how to install and create a website using WordPress. :D
