Meet the Praetorians

image.png

Coming soon to a theater near you, the TV show you've all been waiting for: a look into the lives of some of today's most famous (and infamous) Praetorians.

These legends of the age of Conclave Arcana all have a story to tell.

What hides behind Jicarilla's sweet smile? Is Craniax, who carefully curates his villainous image, as quick as they say he is? And why won't he let others rest? Is the Inept Healer truly inept? How does Blazebeard drink ale? Or maybe all he drinks are flaming cocktails? What is Hodlor holding, really? Does Yaba's Pickle have feelings? Why won't Oridum put on a goddamn vest? Is Dar a manchild? What is Kaylia CEO of? Where is the Cavewise Wayfinder's pet Giraffe? Will any of these secrets ever be revealed?

Only if this trailer goes gangbusters will these secrets ever be revealed!

To create this video, I used Google Veo 3 to make video clips based solely off of text prompts. Google Veo 3 adds audio as well, and is fairly true to the prompts provided. The main lesson I learned from this experiment was that you want to give the right level of precision - you can't go too far or the AI loses the plot, but you can't go too light either as it'll fill in the blanks with its own interpretations. It took me about 3-4 attempts per clip to get it right. It's very capable of taking specific spoken lines and translating it to the character. Many of the clips aren't perfect but I ran out of generation credits!

If there's enough interest, I may just make some slightly longer episodes for some of the characters.

Enjoy!

Amazing! I'd definitely love to see some more videos like this.

I think it would be a great idea to create some official SPL short films with stories about characters from praetoria like this for marketing. Not sure if that's possible, though.
I feel like making videos about an actual story might be a lot more difficult.

Lol, that was fun to watch as always. How much time does it take you per attempt, more or less? I usually give up after two attempts with AI, I don't have the patience.

Love the pickle smiling! That was a highlight. Also "the dang thing" giraffe :-D

Oh and as far as your question - it really depends... Mostly it takes at least a handful of attempts. For videos in particular I try to get most of the assets in a very ready state since video generation is more costly. But still takes a few tries each to make sure it's right.

Great work! PLEASE do more of thses!

Craniax reminds me a bit of Orlando Bloom in this clip.

"I hold doors..." nice GOT reference to go with the character name 😁

I don't know how you keep topping everything you've done, but you always manage to. Damn Brave, this is spectacular. I want to figure out how to make this movie!

Hahaha this is pure gold bro, I truly had a blast with all characters' segments! 😂👌 Safe to say, not only I, but a lot of the community would love to see this fleshed out more.

Btw, if you want some help getting the typography in your videos to match the top quality of the videos themselves, I'd love to help you achieve that last final polish. Just lemme know my friend. 🤙

And I can only second someone else's statement...these could make great marketing to attract new players with. Pokémon did the same thing end of the 90s, releasing the Pokémon anime (that so many fell in love with) before they released their actual product to the US market (Pokémon Red and Blue for the Gameboy). And we all know how successful that was...literally the biggest media franchise in the world, dwarfing giants like Disney, Marvel and Star Wars.

Thanks man :) For typography are you referring to the title? I didn't put much work into that, haha 😅 Happy to get some help. Do you have examples of some of the stuff you've created?

Brilliant - nice work! Cracking up at Yaba's Pickle character who was superbly portrayed. Gets a 10/10 from me and is a must-see.
