BATTLE STRATEGY #2 : AIMLESS + BLAST IS A DEADLY COMBO (Giveaway #74, Rune Crafter)

Welcome back to my blog @queen-silva. This article is my entry for the Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge by @splinterlands. Each week, we have a certain rulesets as the theme for the challenge and for this week, the ruleset is Aimless. Well, what do you guys think if you got this ruleset? do you feel excited or confuse what kind of strategy we should use for the battle? 🤷‍♀ Alright, before we are discussing about aimless in depth, let's take a look at the basic definition of Aimless first ;

What is Aimless?

  Aimless : All monsters have the Scattershot ability..  

Based on the description above, We can understand that if the type of monsters are either ranged or magic attack, their attack will be spread and hit the random enemy target. So what are the keys to win this ruleset?

The answer is to utilize monsters who have high health point ♥️, this is very important to keep them alive for as many round as possible because we never know which monsters will be hit ⚔️ by enemy. For example, if we put monsters who have very low health points like Spark Pixie or Fallen Specter then when they got hit by the opponent, Boom...💥, It's all over for them, they died right when the attack hit them. So keep in mind that high health point is very important in this ruleset.

The battle I picked up for the challenge is the battle when I fought my guildmate, @imperfect-one at Victor's Modern Gold Invitational Tournament. Let's start the explanation with the Rulesets and Mana :

There are 3 rulesets in this battle, Here they are :

Aimless	Rise of the Commons	Explosive Weaponry
All monsters have the Scattershot ability	Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles	All Monsters have the Blast ability

Aside of Aimless , we have Rise of the Commons and Explosive Weaponry Ruleset . Rise of the Commons banning the players to use monsters with epic and legendary type so we have to be creative on creating good line up with common and rare type monsters. The third ruleset makes the battle much more fun because it gives all monsters in the filed blast ability.

The question now is, how to win the battle in Explosive Weaponry ruleset? Well, since we can't use epic and legendary monsters, the reflection shield ability is very limited. In this case, there's no other option except utilizing monsters with swiftness ability to increase all the friendly monsters speed because the battle is all about who will attack first. Those team who have higher speed will most likely win the battle.

Mana and Splinters

The battle has 52 mana. Pretty high mana for Gold league battle and the splinters available are Fire, Life, Earth and Death. Based on the splinters available, Jacek The Conqueror is the best summoner since he can give additional +2 speed ⚡️ to all of friendly monsters.

Summoner

Level 3 Conqueror Jacek

Well, Since the battle requires summoner who can give high speed ⚡️ then Conqueror Jacek is chosen (by both I and @imperfect-one). Another cool ability is `piercing` ability which helps melee and ranged monsters to hit the target's health point if the damage is higher than the target's armor. His third ability is scattershot but we can ignore it as the ruleset is aimless.

Tips 💡

Combining scattershot with blast is always a good idea because it creates ultimate attack which is so destructive for the opponent backline. No ability can prevent scattershot ability to hit random target, not even taunt because scattershot is designed to counter taunt ability.

First Monster

Level 5 Living Lava

I chose this monster because of his shield ability. Based on the ruleset (Aimless), There's a low chance for Living Lava to be hit by Magic monsters and since this monsters is fighting against the tank monster (which is also melee monsters) so It's the best idea to put monster who have shield ability to reduce the melee damage of the opponent's tank monster.

Tips 💡

In Aimless ruleset, The best tank monster is for those who have abilities to counter melee attack like Thorn , Retaliate or can compensate the melee damage like heal or shield ability, because most of the attacks will go to the opponent's monsters at the back line.

Second Monster

Level 6 Fineas Rage

Fineas Rage is always being one of the best second tank monster since he has very high health points ♥️ (11) while he only costs 7 mana only. The high health point is useful to hold the enemies blast damage or some other attacks. Besides, he also has 3 melee damage and very high speed ⚡️ which increase his chance to avoid the opponent melee or ranged attack.

Tips 💡

Second tank monsters is very important as a replacement for the first tank monster if he died in the middle of battle. The higher health points ♥️ , the better he is, as his main job is to hold all of the enemies attack.

Third Monster

Level 6 Tinderlock

The third monster is Tinderlock. This monster is chosen because he has silence ability which can reduce all of the magic damage of the opponent's monster. In the above ruleset, there's a chance that the opponent can use magic monsters so that would be better if we are preparing ourself for it. Another reason why I used this monster is because he has very high health points ♥️ (11) and close range ability so if the first and second tank failed, he can be a tank monster.

Tips 💡

Anticipating magic or ranged monsters is needed in every battle (where the ruleset is not became obstacle for them).

Forth Monster

Level 8 Sand Worm

In high mana battle, this monster is always become a good option to use because he can destroy the opponent's monsters in the back line unexpectedly. His special ability is snare which has 100% chance to hit target with flying ability. Usually, players tend to set the flying ability monster in the last position to evade the opponent sneak attack but it doesn't work when we use Sand Worm who has snare ability.

Tips 💡

Use Sand Worm in high mana battle (more than 50 mana) to destroy the opponent's monsters at the backline.

Fifth Monster

Level 7 Ash Mirage

The basic usecase of this monster is the same as Tinderlock. If Tinderlock is intended to reduce the opponent's magic damage, Ash Mirage main goal is to reduce the opponent's ranged attack. Besides, his reflection shield is also very useful in Explosive Weaponry ruleset as he can negate the blast damage. If the ruleset is not Aimless , this card is very good to be put in second or fifth position.

Tips 💡

In high mana battle, reducing the opponent's magic and ranged attack is very important to minimize the damage taken.

Sixth Monster

Level 8 Supply Runner

The last monster is Supply Runner. I need him to increase the speed ⚡️ of all friendly monsters as the ruleset were Explosive Weaponry and Aimless which means that whoever shot the attack first, he / she will win the match. Increasing friendly monster speed is the same as reducing the opponent speed so we can use monsters with slow ability as well but it's not available so we can only use the swiftness ability.

Tips 💡

In Explosive Weaponry and Aimless ruleset, Speed is very important, so use monsters with swiftness or slow ability.

Here is the battle in the first round looks like :

We almost have the same line-up, Jacek as the summoner, Ash Mirage to reduce the ranged damage and Supply Runner to increase the friendly monster's speed⚡️. There's 1 key monster who determine the outcome of this battle. Can you guess based on the above picture? The answer is Sand Worm and Living Lava. Lava did his job really good to hold and reduce all of the ranged attack directed to him while Sans Worm with his 6 melee damage destroyed the opponent's back line.

Sand Worm the Destroyer

The above picture is the last round of the match. We can see how dangerous Sand Worm is!. He destroyed all the enemies backline in just 2 round. The sneak attack is very effective in Explosive Weaponry and Aimless ruleset. We can also see the health points of Living Lava is still 7 which means he could hold all of the opponents attack very well.
