COUNTER RANGED & MAGIC ATTACK PROPERLY USING LIR DEEPSWIMMER (Plus Giveaway #84)

Welcome back to my blog, @queen-silvia. The current theme for Battle Mage Secrets is Close Range 🎯. What's on your mind when you see this ruleset in the game preparation? Yodin Zaku? General Sloan? Selena Sky? or Prince Rennyn? Well, these summoners are not wrong because the Close Range ruleset will allow all ranged monster 🎯 to attack in all position in the battlefield ⚔️ including at the first position so the battle is giving "buff" 💪 to ranged attack and for those people who loved playing offensive, Summoners who can give buff to ranged attack monster is exciting 🤗 to play. Alright, do you know that we can have the same excitement if we are playing defensive using Lir Deepswimmer 💦 too? This article will explain in a detail how to counter magic and ranged using Lir Deepswimmer in a closed ranged ruleset.

Fundamental Concept of Closed Range Ruleset

  Close Range : Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.  

In the normal ruleset, ranged monster can only attack in any position except the first position. This ruleset is giving "privilege" ✨ to all ranged attack monster as they can attack from the first position. In the Chaos legion era, we have one summoner to give exactly the same ability as close range with the additional +1 health point to all friendly monster. Can you guess that? Yeah it's Fernheart 🍃. The summoner is making strong team when we used Iza the fanged 🎯 in the fifth or sixth position.

Beside of using some summoners who can give the buff 💪 to ranged 🎯 monsters, we can also use the summoners who gives "de-buff" to ranged monsters. For Instance : Ilthain, Quix the Devious, Lir Deepswimmer, This strategy is being implemented a lot in brawl 🏛 and tournament 🥇 as they realized that the opponent will use many ranged monsters. Although there's no guarantee that the opponent will use ranged attack monster but we can predict 👀 what kind of attack 🗡 that they will used based on the other 2 rulesets.

So, what's the best strategy when we face Close Range? I am personally think that the opponent will use many monsters with ranged attack but we have to consider also some other attack like melee 👊 and magic 🔮. So the de-buff ability like Thorn, Demoralize, and retaliate for Melee monsters, plus Silence, Void and magic reflect for magic monsters should have been prepared based on the other 2 rulesets. For example, if we saw the ruleset was Keep the distance ✋ like the picture below :

We can eliminate the possibility to melee 👊 monsters as they would not available in the battle field, so we just need to prepare the counter for magic 🔮 and ranged 🎯 monsters. Water splinter has so many monsters to counter and de-buff magic attack like Lobstradamus, Baakjira, etc so I would like to share about how to counter magic 🔮 and ranged 🎯 attack using Lir Deepswimmer in this article.

Rulesets

There are 3 rulesets in this battle, Here they are :

Keep the Distance	Close Range	Weak Magic

Okay guys, so there are 3 ruleset for the battle. The first one is Keep the distance. I think this is the most important ruleset since it makes melee 👊monsters would not available to be used in the battle and that means we have to anticipate ranged 👊 and magic 🔮 monsters only. If we look at another ruleset, there's a weak magic which means that magic attack will hit the armor 🛡 first before it could reach the target's health point. So the probability for the opponent to use ranged 🎯 attack is higher than magic 🔮 monsters but there's a chance that the opponent will still use magic monsters so we have to anticipate both magic and ranged attack.

Now let's talk about Close Range ruleset. in the battle where one of the ruleset is Close Range, all the ranged 🎯 attack monsters are in the advantage since they can attack from the first position. So there are always 2 options either playing offensively ⚔️ using summoners who have buff to support all friendly ranged attack monster or playing counter attack 🗡 which means we are reducing the ranged damage, giving return fire to all of the friendly monsters and strengthen the damage using amplify ability. For me, I would like to play defensive plus counter because it works better against the opponent who like to play total attack. However, when we play counter - defensive, we have to make sure that the opponent attack ⚔️ could not penetrate our defense because once the defense is destroyed, we could no longer giving any damage and most likely lose 😔 the match.

Mana and Splinters

The battle consists of 42 mana. high enough to build strong team with many kinds of monsters to deal with the ruleset and opponent's team. It was a modern format and the splinters available are fire 🔥, water 💦, earth 🍃 and dragon 🐉 so the possible summoners to be used in this match are :

If you like to make your team stronger then Yodin Zaku 🦊 and Obsidian 🔮 are the good option since Yodin Zaku is increasing +1 ranged damage while Obsidian is giving additional +1 magic damage to all friendly monsters but I would like to play counter - defensive using Lir Deepswimmer 💦 to counter the opponent's ranged attack and put some strong tank monster to hold 🏛 and reduce all of the magic damage from enemy. In this case, some abilities such as Void, magic reflect, silence. It's still okay to use some of them if not all abilities are available, at least we have tried to anticipate magic 🔮 attack from the opponent.

Another important ability to use beside of de-buffing magic damage is amplify , definitely because we are using Lir Deepswimmer 💦 who gives return fire to all friendly monsters so the amplify will increase the ranged 🎯 damage return at the same damage when it's given. Alright, Now let's talk about the line-up I set for the battle ⚔️ started from the summoner until the last monster.

Summoner

Level 3 Lir Deepswimmer

Tips 💡

Use Lir Deepswimmer to counter any ranged attack and increase the chance for the opponent's melee and magic attack to miss their target.

First Monster

Level 3 Baakjira

The first monster is a tank monster, Baajkira. he is very good tank monster as he has void ability to reduce magic damage. At normal battle when the opponent has no monsters with cripple ability, this is also a very nice tank 🛡 because he can restore 4 health points in each turn because of his ability and his health point is very high (13 at level 3). Some other abilities which can support friendly monsters 🦁 are slow (to reduce the opponent speed) and strengthen (increase all of friendly monster's HP by 1).

Second Monster

Level 3 Djinn Oshannus

Third Monster

Level 6 Ryver Nymph

The third monster is River Nymph. This monster is a great combo with any monsters who have Thorn, Magic reflect or return fire ability with his amplify ability. Her second ability which is very important is cleanse ✨. I really like this ability because it can remove all the negative effect at the tank monster like poison, stun, affliction, etc. At Gold league many players used Dr. Blight 🎭 who can give poison and affliction to his target so that's why cleanse is very important battle.

Level 4 Axemaster

"Tips 💡 : Axemaster is very offensive monster which is great to be used after arranging strong defensive team"

Fifth Monster

Level 5 Azmare Harpoonist

Attributes

"Tips 💡 : Azmare Harpoonist has great ranged attack (5 dmaage) with his 6 mana only. It makes him one of the best ranged monster "

Sixth Monster

Level 3 Dr. Blight

Attributes

"Tips 💡 : Doctor Blight is one of the best monster with his Poison, Affliction, Scaveger and Camouflage abilities. "

Alright, all the line up has been explained, Now let's move to the battlefield and see how to use Magic reflect and Thorn abilities effectively.

Here is the battle looks like in the first round :

The opponent set 4 magic 🔮 monsters with 3 of them have 2 magic damage. With the help of Void ability, the damage taken from magic attack is just 1 only. The opponent also set Dr. Blight 🎭 to give poison ability but as long as River Nymph is still alive, the poison would not be a big problem since cleanse ✨ ability from River Nymph will always cleanse it. The big threat is the opponent axemaster 🔨 because he can give 4 damage in total but thanks to additional 2 armor from Lir Deepswimmer 💦 and return fire, Axe master will die as soon as the returned ranged attack kill him.

The Power of Void and return fire with amplify.

Baakjira's Void ability works very well to reduce all of the magic 🔮 damage unfortunately 4 HP restoration is not enough to keep him alive in all rounds. If we see the battle in the below link, Axemaster 🔨 and Azmare Harpoonist 🎯 did their job really well as they gave many damage to their target. Dr. Blight keep increasing his health point as many opponent monsters died in the battle field ⚔️. River Nymph also take a role to increase the returned fire to the opponent's axemaster. I lose Baakjira but it was a great battle. Lir Deepswimmer 💦 has very high win rate in this battle.
