TOP 8 GOLD LEAGUE LEADERBOARD (Meta cards at Gold League and Giveaway # 69)
Welcome back to my blog, @queen-silvia. The End of Season has just finished yesterday, How was your EOS chests guys? I hope you got great rewards, whether they are GFL, Packs, Bunch of Merits, Thousands of SPS or the New Summoners. Well, Beside of EOS, There's one thing that you should consider to participate. Yeah, It's a Leaderboard for sure. There are great rewards of DEC in each league started from Bronze to Diamond league, so feel free to fight for the leaderboard in the league that you are convenient the most. In this article, I would like to share my experience to finish at the top 8 of Modern Gold league Leaderboard last season and I'll also share to all of you guys about Meta Cards at Gold league which you definitely should have in order to get leaderboard prize.

Alright guys, Let's start to look at the the first topic 😊
- COMPARISON BETWEEN FIGHTING FOR SILVER AND GOLD LEADERBOARD -
Well, In the previous 2 seasons, I have finished as the top #1 Silver Modern Leaderboard, The complete article can be read HERE. In that article, I have explained some leaderboard tips and tricks for Silver league. I felt more confidence climbing for silver league rather than gold league because I have played soo many silver league battles either at weekly tournaments or in the past. The experience of competing at the silver leaderboard for several seasons is also the reason why Silver league feels easier than gold league. So last season, I have decided to leave the Silver Leaderboard and try to fight for Gold Leaderboard.
Last season was literally the first time for me fighting for gold leaderboard so I aimed for the top 10 first at least to secure the 20,000 DEC. I found lots of difficulties climbing for gold leaderboard. It's like we got the average of +7 to +10 points from winning the matches but when we lose the battle, our rating down around -35 points. I need 373 battles to get the #8 rank, the second highest battles among the top #10 leader boarders, the highest battles was the top leader boarders with 376 battles. It's all about win rate actually, No matter how many battles we have, If our win rate is higher than our opponents, we'll definitely finish at the higher rating.
Another reason why gold league is harder is because RNG or luck plays important roles in all of the matches. One of many example is the *poison* ability by Deeplurker, Uraeus, Dr. Blight, Horny Toad, The Vigilator, Serpent of the Flame, Goblin Chef, Mushroom Sheer, Venari Seedsmith, Silvershield Assassin, Skeleton Assassin, Haunted Spider, Venari Bonesmith, and Royal Dragon Archer. The chance to activate this ability is 50%, so even if we have very high chance to win the match based on splintertools.io, as long as the poison is not activated, we won't win the battle. So the best thing that we can do is to arrange better lineup monsters according to the mana, rulesets, and splinters available. At Silver league, it's more fair to say that the RNG has lower roles than gold league.
- META CARDS FOR GOLD LEAGUE -
Well, Now let's discuss about the Meta cards (which I interpret as the most used cards at Gold league). So I would suggest that you really have to own or rent this card to increase the win rate and get more daily chests, I'll put the meta cards of every splinters in the below table :
Keep in mind that these cards are belong to modern cards since I play modern format more often than wild :)
Fire Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |

| 1 | Antoid Platoon | This card is very useful in low - mid mana with his shield and scavennger ability. It's always a good choice for many rulesets like equalizer and lost magic. |
| 2 | Serpentine Spy | Great choice for attacking purpose with his opportunity, high melee damage and high speed. Good for low until high mana. |
| 3 | Ash Mirage | His headwinds ability could reduce the opponent ranged damage by 1. His Reflection Shield is also used very often since many cards at gold have blast ability. |
| 4 | Tinderlock | Used mostly to reduce the opponent's magic damage by -1 |
| 5 | Countesh Sinash | Her swiftness ability is a perfect combo with other cards. Pretty aggressive card with her 4 ranged damage and opportunity. |
Water Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |

| 1 | Deeplurker | His posion and opportunity ability makes him very dangerous for the opponent's backline team and could kill them very fast |
| 2 | Baakjira | Perfect card for the defense purposes with his 13 Health Points, Void, Slow, and Strengthen abilities. Every turn his HP restored 4 points unless being afflicted |
| 3 | Axemaster | Very dangerous card at the backline with his total 6 ranged damage in each round and his mana is only 7. Very effective card and save mana cost a lot. |
| 4 | Tide Biter | Mostly being placed at second position as he has reflection shield ability. Great card to be used at little league with his 3 melee damage |
| 5 | River hellondale | Used very often in high mana especially with her inspire and resurrect ability which could increase melee damage by +1 and bring back friendly monster to life. |
Earth Splinter

| 1 | Failed Summoners | Very useful card to counter magic and melee monsters with his Demoralize and Magic reflect ability. The most precious and used Common cards in Splinterlands. |
| 2 | Goblin Psychic | The healing, Silence and affliction abilities are always great to reduce the opponent magic damage as well as keep the friendly tank alive. |
| 3 | Queen Mycelia | Baakjira |
| 4 | Epona | Her protect, triage and amplify abilities make a great ultimate defense especially against the melee monsters. always being combined with Failed Summoner to increase the magic reflect damage. |
| 5 | Acid Shooter | With his 2 mana, 2 damage and scattershot, This card is always a good choice to be put in the backline either fifth or sixth position. |
Life Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lone Boatman | The repair ability make him special. We could make an ultimate defense with life splinter by putting him in the backline. |
| 2 | Venari Crystalsmith | Her tank heal ability is always used in many rulesets. I often combine him with cleanse monster in order to be able to restore HP each round |
| 3 | Corsair Bosun | In high mana battle, this card are often being used and put in the second place due to his reflection shield ability, cleanse and high melee damage. |
| 4 | Adelade Brightwing | Her 2 special abilities are resurrect and repair. Both will help us to create great defense and attack at the same time. This is what makes life special. |
| 5 | Jared Scar | When the rulesets allows melee monsters to attack in any position like super sneak, equal opportunity, melee mayhem, etc, This is a must used cards due to his bloodlust and piercing ability. |
Death Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Death Elemental | The ability to reduce the opponent magic damage by -1 is very important. This is what makes death splinter special. |
| 2 | Queen of Crows | Not only magic, we can also reduce the ranged damage using headwinds by Queen of Crows. Reducing opponent damage is always give huge advantage at battle. |
| 3 | Soul Storm | Same reason as Queen of Crows. His headwinds reduce the opponent's ranged damage. |
| 4 | Cabalist | His amplify makes him special. With the ability, we can increase the reflected ranged or magic or Thorn damage to the opponent. |
| 5 | Harklaw | Shield ability helped him to receive less damage from ranged and melee monster. The demoralize help us to counter opponent's melee and the immunity will never allow poison to be activated to him. |
Dragon Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |

| 1 | Runic Skyclaw | The snipe ability could destroy the opponent's backline very fast. She also has reflection shield to stop the blast damage spreading |
| 2 | Agor Longtail | We can make a good defense as well as attack as this monster has heal, void armor, Thorn and Flying ability. Most of the time, paired up with Oshuur. |
| 3 | Canila Sungazer | This card is must card to use when the ruleset is silenced summoner because we can use some other splinters alongside the dragon. |
| 4 | Carnage Titan | Always being put at the second position with his range ability. He has 6 damage in total and shield ability to make him pretty cool as the second tank monster. |
| 5 | Chaos Dragon | The most used card at high mana too with his scattershot, Blast and Blind ability. Once the attack hit the middle of backline, the attack is devastating. |
Neutral Splinter
| Number | Name | Special Ability |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Chain Golem | A super card with shield and void ability. Makes as a great tank monster towards any kind of attack, The shield will reduce the melee and ranged by -1. The void will reduce magic damage by -1. |
| 2 | Venari Marksrat | The martyr ability is special. the effect is the same as Bloodlust which could increase all the stats by +1 |
| 3 | Dr. Blight | The poison, Affliction, Scavenger and Camouflage abilities are the reason why he often being put at the last position (sometimes fifth with ranged monster at the last position). |
| 4 | Uraeus | Sneak and Posion abilities could destroy the opponent's backline . |
| 5 | Venari Spellsmith | His amplify could increase the reflected magic, ranged and thorn ability. He is a neutral so we can use him almost for all battles. |

Alright guys, I'll provide 3 great battles using Meta cards, Check these out :

The first great battle is between I and my friend, @russia-btc. I saw his last 5 matches were using some Alric then I went for magic counter. Putting 2 tank monsters with magic reflect ability (Prismatic energy and Failed Summoner), 2 monsters with silence ability to reduce the opponent magic damage and affliction to prevent the opponent from healing their tank. I should have put amplify monster to increase the damage of reflected magic but the mana was not sufficient. Immortalis has a big role to protect my team from reflected magic with his void ability given to all friendly monsters.
Life Splinter (Venari Crystalsmith & Lone Boatman)

Well. the ruleset was lost magic, so only melee and ranged attack who can be played. Another ruleset is fog of war, That means no sneak nor opportunity monster so the battle will most likely will be flooded with ranged monster. That's the reason why I used Ilthain to counter ranged attack and It was right. The opponent set General Sloan to increase the ranged damage unit. Both of us set Tank who have shield ability to reduce the ranged damage but as I have return fire, all of the ranged damage my team received, will be reflected back and thus make the opponent lose the battle.
Death Splinter (Death Elemental)

The last battle is about the meta cards from Death Splinter, Death elemental. As we can see in the above battle, The card is so great that he can reduce all of the opponent magic damage by one. Unfortunately the ruleset was taking sides so I could not put amplify to increase the damage of the reflected magic. In the Wands Out rule set, Some summoners that are often used are Owster Rotwell since he can reflect the magic damage, Immortalis since he can give all friendly monster void ability and Grand Master Rathe since he can give all friendly monsters void armor.
