EPIC BATTLE STRATEGIES AT YGG SPL TOURNAMENT (RUNNER-UP) & GIVEAWAY #56

Welcome back to my blog, @queen-silvia. In today's post, I would like to share the top 5 battle strategies when I was participating at YGG SPL Weekend Challenge ASIAN/EU. The tournament was conducted by the @yggspl-official community and shown to public through @damour livestream. In my opinion, YGG is the biggest community in Splinterlands as we can see lots of guilds have the "YGG" name and then followed by the name of the guild, for example : YGG Brawlers (Asgard), YGG Brawlers (Nifleheim), YGG Dragons, YGG Team Philippines, etc. There are 30 YGG guilds in Splinterlands. Amazing. They have regular tournament each week and rewards in the form of YGG Badge for those who performed well in ranked battle, tournaments and brawl. They are also rewarding members who are actively streaming. Pretty solid community I have to say.

Alright, The top 5 battle strategies in the tournament that we are going to discuss in depth are :

Always anticipate opponent's sneak monster in low mana
Use Reflection Shield and Opportunity at Explosive Weaponry Ruleset
Strengthen Melee army with inspire ability
Focus the attack to 1^st position monster at Super Sneak Ruleset
Build a strong defence and attack in high mana battle

- TOURNAMENT RESULT -

The tournament is just consisted of 1 round only (14 matches) so the winner should be determined by tie breaker. Here is the result of all of my matches :

I took 1 L from the battle against @poorskyz, Got 2 free wins as @jrsmith and @wileyzile fled the matches and won the rest 11 matches. Hmm, I think the most popular players in the list are Jrsmith and Amaillo-m. They both have joined many tournaments. Jrsmith is the strongest in my opinion but unfortunately he was not filling the match. That would be an awesome battle to fight against him. - ANTICIPATE OPPONENT'S SNEAK MONSTERS IN LOW MANA -

Well, our line up is almost same, We used Thaddius Brood as the Summoner and Cursed Windeku as the tank monster. the difference is the monsters in the back line. In small mana, players tend to use sneak monster as they think that it's the best way to kill opponent's monster quickly. They are right, killing monsters in the backline is way easier since they have lower mana than tank monsters. So, What we need to do is to put "sacrifice" monster to hold all of those sneaky monsters. In the battle above I used Shadowy Presence to hold Uraeus attack so that my Silent Sha-Vi could be safe and could kill the opponent monsters in the backline first.

- USE REFLECTION SHIELD AND OPPORTUNITY IN EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY RULESET -

Alright, since the ruleset is Explosive weaponry, the first monster that we have to think about is the monster who can stop the blast damage, yes, The monster who have reflection shield ability can stop it. In this case, Corsair Bosun take the role to stop all the blast damage from the opponent. The second think that we have to consider is how to pull all the attack to the tank monster so monsters in the backline would not be affected by blast damage? the answer is monster who has taunt ability, Unfortunately this tournament only allows player to use Chaos, Reward modern and Riftwatcher only so I used Onyx Sentinel instead of Shieldbearer. The third monster is opportunity as that monster will inflict lots of blast damage in the opponent's backline.

- STRENGHTEN MELEE ARMY WITH INSPIRE ABILITY -

Well, In the opportunity ruleset, I would suggest to fill all the six spots in the battlefield because any small mana monsters will have significant impact to the outcome of the battle since they will be a distraction of the opponent monster. So instead of attacking the main monsters, they will attack the small mana monsters first. As the example, we can see Hardy Stonefish in the above battle, His presence is just a distraction to Venari Wavesmith and Angelic Mandarin. As the battle ruleset is opportunity and melee monsters can attack from any position, It's very important to increase the damage with inspire ability (in the above match, It's the ability owned by Demented Shark).

- FOCUS THE ATTACK TO FIRST POSITION MONSTER IN SUPER SNEAK RULESET -

Most of people will think if the ruleset is super sneak, then the opponent will put lots of melee monsters as they can attack from any position in the battlefield. So the best way to win this ruleset is to ignore melee sneak attack and focus to attack the first position monster using magic or ranged attack monster. This strategy is proven to be effective way since I could kill Xenith Monk very fast and then defeat the opponent cursed Windeku as I have life sapper. The shadowy presence function is to hold all of the opponent melee monster. Death Splinter is mostly being used in small mana as Cursed Windeku could counter melee attack and Thaddius Brood could reduce 1 magic attack.

- BUILD A STRONG DEFENCE AND ATTACK IN HIGH MANA BATTLE -

The last strategy that we are going to discuss is building strong defence and attack in high mana battle. In the above battle, I used Djinn Chwala to defend against the opponent tank monster and Wave Brood to pull all the attack from the opponent monsters in the backline. We can make Wave Brood stronger with triage ability from another friendly monster to restore it's HP. For the attacking purposes, I used Axe master, Flying Squid, Nerissa Tridawn and Captain Ghost. Axe master attack is pretty effective with his 4 damage in total.
